Simulation readiness is more than clean geometry
Why materials, interfaces, constraints, and review belong in every preparation conversation.
A model can mesh and still be incomplete
Geometry quality is one part of preparation. A model with missing materials, undefined contacts, or incorrect constraints may run yet fail to represent the intended physical system. Readiness is about the entire setup.
Check coverage, then check meaning
First verify that materials and boundary conditions have been assigned where needed. Then ask whether the definitions are physically appropriate. A completed field in a setup interface is not the same as a defensible engineering assumption.
Treat contacts as explicit assumptions
Component interfaces may be bonded, frictional, sliding, or connected in other ways. Review which model best represents the assembly and intended analysis. A missed interface can leave a component disconnected; an overly restrictive connection can change the load path.
Look for inconsistent units and constraints
Confirm that loads, dimensions, material properties, and other inputs use a consistent unit system. Check rigid body motion and avoid unintentionally constraining behavior you are trying to predict.
Make open issues visible
A useful readiness review separates completed checks from unresolved assumptions. It identifies who should review an issue and what information is needed. Any score should be understood alongside the checks and limitations behind it.
Keep validation after the handoff
Readiness review helps prepare a simulation. It does not certify the result. Mesh convergence, sensitivity analysis, verification, and comparison to suitable evidence remain part of the engineering process after the solver runs.
